Level 1 & 2
Whether you want to travel to German-speaking countries or work with one of the largest economies in Europe, learning this language opens doors. Our evening classes cover all Common European Framework levels from A1.1 (suitable for complete beginners) to B2+, which offers a good understanding of complex grammatical structures and broad vocabulary.

Level 3 & 4

This course will build on your existing knowledge of the language and immerse you in the culture of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It aims to bring you to CEFR level B2 (Upper Intermediate)/A-Level+ and develops your ability to understand spoken German and communicate in German in a variety of everyday situations.
Learn to speak, read, write and listen to German with this intensive course at the Goethe-Institut London. You can choose to learn in small groups or online, and the course is suitable for beginners through to those with a higher level of fluency. The course includes a placement test and certificate on completion. Discounts are available for UCL and University of London staff and students.
Level 5 & 6

At this level, you can communicate confidently in familiar situations and understand simple texts. Your vocabulary and grammar are more sophisticated and you can express yourself more easily in writing. You can also understand a variety of different accents.
At this stage you are able to participate in complex discussions and read and write about a wide range of topics. You can use your German skills in many different situations and will have a high level of fluency. You can also start preparing for different types of telc certificates, such as the telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, or the telc Deutsch B2-C1 Pflege for nurses and doctors, which are required by some German universities.
Level 7 & 8
With Germany one of the world’s largest economies and an official language in many countries, German is a popular choice for learners. From the A1 level, you can communicate in simple everyday situations, make basic enquiries and give instructions. You will consolidate your grammar knowledge, and learn to read simple German texts. You will also begin to understand short radio and TV programmes with slow and clear narration.
Intensive course in the mornings, 20 course lessons per week plus 5 lessons of cultural/special interest programme. You will learn to express yourself more fluently and discuss complex topics. You will have a solid command of the basics and be able to understand most written and spoken German, including the main points of short press articles.
